The Crown of Thorns

A MAN had many sins, and he
Looked upon them pridefully,
And thereof he made a crown
Of thorns.

He made thereof a thorny crown,
He pressed it down upon his brow,
And he walks in triumph now.

And he walks in triumph now,
Crowned without and crowned within,
He has triumphed over sin.

He has triumphed over sin,
He named it honour and renown,
And thereof he made a crown
