The App Gap

THE APP GAP

Someone, somewhere will be mine
But I’m still unclear how or who
Yet a world awaits there online
And will I know just what is true
An email could be the first sign
And will I know just what to do

Pen friends is quite a dated term
A traditional idea of decades ago
Online dating idea, then just a germ
Maybe the secret is let feelings flow
Easy to withdraw, so I’ll stay firm
Over time, some seeds may grow

Pictures are not a thousand words
What they say, maybe a sort of lie
Photo editing not just for the birds
It may build a statue so very high
Or smash that into many sherds
But sooner or later, just ask why

Many differences of gender and age
Make such communication so acute
Redirected to some home web page
Following blindly the strangest route
To be offered the chance to engage
But backtrack fast if it doesn’t suit

Perhaps it’s really a damsel in distress
Or someone who now wants to meet
With many dark secrets to confess
Could this make them all complete
Or find that they’re in a total mess
Then again to walk the lonely street
