Depression

The light is too loud
But the darkness is too dark
My ears hate all this noise
What noise?  It's quiet here...
I'm in a pit
No, a ditch
No, an undiscovered underground cave
That no one knows the location of
Yet many people visit
The good days are the upper levels
A small source of water
A few rays of light
But still several feet below ground
The bad days are intersecting tunnels
One entrance is the exit to the previous maze
No light, no water
But there's ALWAYS a bed
And a mirror to tell you how crappy you look
Near the bed, there's a yoga mat
And a plant
But the medicine cabinet is built right into the headboard
In the darkest parts of the cave
There are glass boxes
IN CASE OF EMERGENCY
But no fire hydrant, axe, or defibrillator
Just
Belts
Ropes
Razors
Needles
Guns
And, of course, pills
Always plenty of pills
I wander around
Tunnel to tunnel
Level to level
Feeling just as trapped up high
As down low
But thankful for the water
I wonder
Has anybody ever gotten to the surface?
