A Detached Tail
A
house
lizard’s
detached
tail
wriggles.
Flavor
of
parting
is
pain.
To
sacrifice
a part
to
save
the
rest
is
sagacity.
A
soul
needs
neither
fair
nor
the
whole
body.
The
tail’s
pizzazz
and
warmth
vanish
in
stillness.
Even
a
piece
of
flesh
is
stinky
without
soul.
