Morning break
In the morning before the Dawn
in dim darkness of little light
seeking substance on which to feed
into the kitchen I do go
gathering substances from pantry there
dishes and tools with which to prepare
recipe used long memorized
begin to prepare my morning feast
milk and fiber and protein powders
packet of breakfast the instant kind
with together in a frothy mix
altogether to make a milkshake thick
altogether ‘tis not half bad
and lots of nutrition to be had
as so few calories to make me glad
as in my age my waist grows fat
and yet still now I must confess
while drinking I think of many other things
cakes and pies and pastries gooey
rich meat pies and soups of savor
yet I still seek my dimples to keep
right where my six-pack does lie hidden
and although most would say that
I am not fat I would not agree with that
so in the morning before twilight
in the kitchen where I would rather bake
again I make a nutritionists protein shake
