Obsolescence

Do you remember when records came on vinyl?
And then the music wailed from tape cassettes.
Those gave way to CDs-- sturdy discs that lasted years...

But now the tide is shifting again...
streams echoing from earbuds and headphones.
The great collections of CDs in racks have
fallen away in those streams.

What will replace the streams?
Music placed directly in the mind?

We, like the music,
shift with the tide...
are we doomed to obsolescence
as well?
