Polaroid Sunset
At the top of the cliff is where I stand and stay,
To send my gaze to dance along the bay.
My camera falls prey to impatience's trap,
Just waiting for the best of nature's display.
Down a little ways, shells and seaweed wrap
And wash up along the shore where the water laps
At the sand like it's been starving for days.
In the blanket of the sun, a Dobermann naps.
"Click click click" is the song of the shutter,
As it captures a memory made up of summer.
Hermit crabs mingle within pools in the cracks,
While baby seagulls strut along the shore with their mother.
I follow the trail that trickles with their tracks,
The breeze on my face and the sun at my back,
Eyes like a locket, clutching at the sights,
Lens on the lookout, singing "snap snap snap".
The daylight retreats and the sun sets on the beach,
Where the orange, red, and blue of the horizon meet,
When I'll click click click the light away,
As the day tick tick ticks the time away.
Where did it all go?
Well it's here to stay,
Living forever in photos, and photos,
And photos.
