Revising the Origin of Language

Revisiting the origin of language 

 
These marks in the sand,
the time of their creation 
once preserved in ice,
now restored by wind and sun.
 
Yes, there were others before them
reaching out to reveal worlds 
and hands still unknown.
 
The list is long. . .
as so many still search
for the origins of language
of being and before.
 
And so I revisit this site
the marks well-known to me
their origin, non-terrestrial,
so  much further back in time
 
when I etched a final poem
to a long lost love.
