Wet or Fine
As I was on the high-road
That leads to Miller's Run,
I met my lover Barney
Riding in the sun.
He lifted me so tenderly
And sat me on his mare,
And as we sauntered up the hill
He strove to woo me there.
A bonny house had Barney
And many lands he had,
Of all his wealthy family
He was the only lad.
He courted me so grandly
With many Asigh and moan,
Why could I think of nothing
But — " How long his teeth have grown! "
As I was on the high-road
That leads to Somerset,
I met my lover Sandy
That leads to Miller's Run,
I met my lover Barney
Riding in the sun.
He lifted me so tenderly
And sat me on his mare,
And as we sauntered up the hill
He strove to woo me there.
