Thy poems Hafiz shame the rose leaves
Since they breathe the praise of the rosier cheeks of thy love

Who compares a poem
Of others to mine
Compares gold
With rush-plaits
Hafiz

Thy songs O Hafiz
Are erst in Paradise
On the leaves of the jasmin
And the rose bush written
Hafiz

And had Hafiz
Ten tongues like the lily,
He would be silent
Like the rosebud,
While thro love his mouth is sealed.

Free thyself from wo
Thou drinkest blood when thou enviest others their luck
Hafiz

Hear what the glass will tell thee
This again-married world
Has had many husbands mighty & glorious
Jam & Keikobad
Hafiz

Yet all comes out of this, that one door
Opens, when another shuts.
Hafiz

Has thine enemy slandered thy house
He shall find his sin in his childs child
Hafiz

Reach me wine No counsel weakens the conclusion of the lot,
None alters what Destiny determines for him.

Good is what goes on the road of Nature
On the straight way never yet erred man
