To the Writer of a Poem on a Bridge
Dear builder of the Bridge, with thee I stood
—And watched the waters flow
And heard thy cry of “Onward” o'er the flood,
—Between two skies, one over, one below.
Whether it was the outward eye that thought,
—The inward eye that saw,
I know not; into harmony were brought
—The floating image and abiding law.
—And watched the waters flow
And heard thy cry of “Onward” o'er the flood,
—Between two skies, one over, one below.
Whether it was the outward eye that thought,
—The inward eye that saw,
I know not; into harmony were brought
—The floating image and abiding law.
