But lo!
What new born Light adorns the radiant Sky,
And gilds it with a brighter Galaxy?
While gentle Zephirs fan the fruitful Earth,
And with sweet Incense, celebrate the Birth.
'Tis so! 'tis so! look up with ravish'd Eyes,
And view the glorious Scene with vast Surprize:
See Musidora does appear!
Her Guardian Angel wafts her thro' the Air,
How dazling Bright she looks? how exquisitely Fair?
A starry Diadem adorns her Brow,
Immortal Glories from her Temples flow:
But oh! that pitying Glance was sent to us below.
Celestial Orbs in tuneful Numbers move;
Celestial Forms descend to show their Love;
And, with angelick Hymns, the Harmony improve.
Welcome, thrice happy Saint, they cry,
From Earth's dark Prison freed;
Mount glorious and triumphantly
The Place for Thee decreed:
See, where the Great Cecilia sits,
And smilingly looks down;
With Joy thy Partnership invites
To Share her Seat, and Crown.
Oh happy Pair! come join your wond'rous Lays,
And help us to resound our Great Creator's Praise.
