In the clear dark lake a lady dived

In the clear dark lake a lady dived;
And a milky meteor clove the deep,
The messenger bubbles she sent survived
For her laugh ere foam on the ripples' leap.

Gone to the Naiads, she might seem,
Counting by breath; & a sweeter one.
Something of mystery born of a dream,
She wore when she rose, though her face was fun.
