Ice Storm, An

Nature repents her of the sullen mood
That stripped the forests of their loveliness,
Ravished the orchards of their luscious food,
And robbed the gardens of their glowing dress—
Nature repents.
All in a night her penance hath performed,
And o'er the earth a rain of pity stormed—
Tears turned to glory in the crystal air—
And lo! A sudden world celestial fair.
