Hoppergrass a-springin';
Come 'long, Mister Mockin'-bird,
Hit's yo' time fer singin'!

Brown straw in de bluebird bill,
Cattle-bells a-ringin';
Wake up, Mister Mockin'-bird,
Hit's yo' time fer singin'!

Swallow in de ol'-time gourd
Havin' fun a-swingin',
Rouse up, Mister Mockin'-bird,
Hit's yo' time fer singin'!
