To Dr. J. C. who Got the Foregoing to Give the Young Lady

To Dr. J. C.

WHO GOT THE FOREGOING TO GIVE THE YOUNG LADY .

Here , happy Doctor, take this sonnet;
Bear to the fair the faithful strains:
Bow, make a leg, and d' off your bonnet;
And get a kiss for Allan's pains.

For such a ravishing reward,
The Cloud-Compeller's self would try
To imitate a British bard,
And bear his ballads from the sky.
