Standing on the Rock of Ages,
The Rock of Ages old;
Not shaken by the tempest,
Nor bought with beaten gold;
Eternal, firm, and sure,
A refuge strong and free
Amid the stormy billows
Of life's tempestuous sea.
Standing, standing,
Standing on the Rock of Ages,

No need have I to fear.
Standing on the Rock of Ages,
We view the tranquil soul;
The terrors of the tempest,
The surging billows roll;
Be troubles what they may,
And break the waves of care,
Amid the wild commotion,
We stand in safety there.

God banishes our sorrow,

We 're watching, and believe —
We trust his promise sure;
The crown of great rejoicing,
