On Titus the married Man
T ITUS was tame when Titus was single ,
But soon as with married men Titus would mingle,
Quite fierce and much alter'd poor Titus we see,
Nor beast under yoke more uneasy than he.
The reason I guess, madam did him adorn ;
But be patient, dear Titus, and pocket your horn:
And as nought's to be done let nothing be spoke,
For to be horn-mad is a very great joke.
If she has any sense , she will soon see her fault,
By your silence to private reflection be brought;
If you otherwise act you will both be expos'd,
But the wound by these means may be happily clos'd.
They may laugh at the cuckold , dear Sir, stand the brunt,
For you'll have most cause if she gilds the affront.
