Matthew Arnold
Dead ! and the calm of starry night
Is his; and his, the deep sea calm:
Who, living in this world of light,
Lived sunward like a gracious palm.
Now, in the strong surprise of death
He bears him nobly, as before:
But we! sad eyes and [waning] breath
Proclaim one sorrow ours, the more.
