Heart, we were so happy then

Heart, we were so happy then,
Thou and I, thou and I;
Heart, he seemed the man of men,
And the mountain and the glen
Blossomed into sunshine when,
Joyous, he came nigh.

Heart, we are so lonely now,
Thou and I, thou and I;
Gloom is on the mountain's brow,
And, poor heart, we weep enow,
Yet we proudly cherish how
Did our warrior die.
