Caelica - Sonnet 104

Two sects there be in this earth opposite,
The one make Mahomet a Deity,
A tyrant Tartar rais'd by Warre and Sleight,
Ambitious waies of infidelity:
The World their heauen is, the World is great,
And racketh those hearts, where it hath receit.

The other Sect of cloystered people is,
Lesse to the world, with which they seeme to warre,
And so in lesse things drawne to doe amisse,
As all lusts, lesse than lust of conquest are:
Now if of God, both these haue but the name,
What mortall Idoll then, can equall Fame?
