Meditation 16: Lu. 7.16. A Greate Prophet is Risen up -
Leaf gold, Lord of thy golden wedge o'erlaid
My Soul at first, Thy Grace in every part
Whose pert, fierce eye thou such a sight hadst made
Whose brightsome beams could break into Thy heart
Till Thy cursed foe had with my fist mine eye
Dashed out, and did my soul unglorify.
I cannot see, nor will thy will aright.
Nor see to wail my woe, my loss and hue
Nor all the shine in all the sun can light
My candle, nor its heat my heart renew.
See, wail, and will thy will, I must, or must
From heaven's sweet shine to hell's hot flame be thrust.
Grace then concealed in God Himself, did roll
Even snow ball like into a sunball shine
And nestles all its beams bunched in Thy soul
My Lord, that sparkle in prophetic lines.
Oh! wonder more than wonderful! this will
Lighten the eye which sight divine did spill.
What art Thou, Lord, this ball of glory bright?
A bundle of celestial beams up bound
In grace's band fixed in heaven's topmost height
Pouring Thy golden beams thence, circling round
Which show Thy Glory, and Thy glory's way
And everywhere will make celestial day.
Lord, let Thy golden beams pierce through mine eye
And leave therein an heavenly light to glaze
My soul with glorious grace all o'er, whereby
I may have sight, and grace in me may blaze.
Lord ting my candle at Thy burning rays,
To give a gracious glory to Thy praise.
Thou lightening eye, let some bright beams of Thine
Stick in my soul,to light and liven it:
Light, life, and glory, things that are divine;
I shall be graced withall for glory fit.
My heart then stuffed with grace, light, life, and glee
I'll sacrifice in flames of love to Thee.
