46 High Expectations, Cals for an High, and Sutable Conversation -
High expectations, cals for an high, and sutable conversation.
What maner of persons ought wee
In thought, in word, in deed, to be
who do expect
A bright, uncoruptable crown
Shinning with glory, and renown
with the elect.
Wee who doe look with Christ to reign
And be still of his blessed traine
when we goe hence
Should we not henceforth always scorn
With durt, for to defile our horn
and live by sence.
Wee who expect, to live with god
Our glorious eternall lot
on Zion hill,
Should surely scorn whilst, we ar here
To live upon earth's, empty chear
which cannot fill.
Each sainct expects to be a king
The praises of his god, to sing
with joy, and mirth
Shall we not then, take holy state
Living att a more noble rate
then men of earth.
Belong not saincts, to, a higher court
Then earthly princes, do resort
which here bear sway
Shall such great spirits, stoop so low
As to submit, unto there foe
or once obey.
Wee do expect eternity
In Christs imbraces for to lye
in sweet solace
Then for to let this world imbrace
Whilst we gaze on its painted face
tis sordednese.
We that can call heaven our own.
And look to sitt, upon Christs throne
Should with distaine
Look down, upon this lower earth
As sorry, baren, fruitlese heath
Which yeelds no gain.
Wee look for everlasting rest
And to be filed with the best
att fountain head,
And shall we soe, love our clay inne
As here our requiem to sing
and home forget.
We who look for a sinlese state
Like to the angells, who doe wait
on god alway
Doth it become us to love sin,
Or subject be to itt, as king.
While we obey.
How holy, strict, and circumspect,
If posible, without defect.
ought such to be.
Who have whilst here, a ceirtain pledg
Of their grand future priveledg
when hence they flee.
