Days of union with the friends gone by, remembered

Days of union with the friends gone by, remembered,
Still remembered be their season, ay, remembered!

For grief's bitter is my palate grown like poison:
Be the winebibbers' carousal-cry remembered!

Though the loved ones no remembrance of me cherish,
Be they thousandfold of me, for by, remembered!

Though in severance's bonds to-day I'm tangled,
Be their kindness past, until I die, remembered!

Be the Zindehroud of garden-haunters ever,
Though an hundred rivers flood mine eye, remembered!

Though I lack of salve for sorrow, be the solace,
That those care-dispellers did apply, remembered!

Though to-day in none faith bideth, be the faithful
And the loved ones of the days gone by remembered!

Hafiz' secret, now they're gone, untold abideth;
Be those secret-keepers still, say I, remembered!
