Reading Opposite the Lamp

glass eyes
icicle green
With crackled irises like glass between
Glass
contract
crystallize
Clink
over angles and fractures of ink
Jiggle round corners of consonants
slide
Back and begin again
joggling and
jolting and
glide
Back and begin again jiggling and
clink
by staring in which
manner she sees
a leaf twitch
in the wu-t'ung trees
the crushed grass lift from a slow
Step, that passed a thousand years ago.
