Gul-I-Fardaus

The Rose of Paradise

Thine eyes that here first saw the light
Are now in fullest brightness shown;
Here first was seen in op'ning bud
Thy form that now we see fullblown,
And blooming fair in summer air
As is a Rose of Paradise.

Here sounded first thy lisping tongue
That now speaks forth a woman's mind;
Here first was seen thy welcome smile
That ever shows thee ever kind:
Sweet tongue to hear, sweet smile to cheer
The heart, O Rose of Paradise.

But now to bless another place
Thou, hence from us, art gone thy way,
Where thou wilt give at fairest spot
Another charm unto their day.
Be blest thy way, and short thy stay,
O welcome, Rose of Paradise.
