"Where Sweetness Lies"

Perhaps it is a fool who dreams
Of ripened fruit before
The seed inspires

But it is wrong to quiet the heart
When it has seen
Where sweetness lies

Then soften its voice to whisper
No more than laughter
As but a smile

Said of wonder and endless time
Past and future oft
At Janus' door

So as to question of our claim
This field would bare
A fruitless fall

Leave me then, as I lay here
With care and grace begot
By blissful stare
