To witness:
to be suddenly somewhere and be caught off guard. To not know the sounds around you. To hold something intangible in your hands. To speak honestly with something wide and open. To whisper a prayer, an ode to it without knowing the language it speaks.
To witness:
to stand on the full grasses of the prairie, underneath the beating sun and the unquestionable clouds, battered by the wind and a battalion of insects, watching the distant fields and creeks and barns, and be.
