pilgrim's rest
I think about Autumn
haggard face at night
the light that ushers in another time
and softens all of my might.
I wonder what life beyond brings
adventure in ocherous hues
resting soul shall embrace this time
sky's color shift from blues.
The Lord's present glory is nigh
I pause for one last thought
to cross the Jordan to my rest
a pilgrim's end thus sought.
Alas the trials of a day
preclude this hasty feat
as precious joy arises now
and delays the Mercy seat.
I wonder then, what life should bring
in orange and tangerine
more time for faith to build upon
a godly life serene.
