Brand New Laptop
 
There sit the boxes it came in,
positioned on chairs in the kitchen,
unwelcome dinner companions.
 
We try to ignore their stiff brown backs
but mealtimes have become strained,
conversations fade away.
 
The programs we’d ordered are missing,
it has functions we’ll never use, and
the keyboard isn’t our friend,
.
Two months of this fuss,
we’re both depressed,
our marriage is stressed
and our house is a mess!
 
But these darn boxes,
they’ll be with us
for a long, long time.
