Boulevard
Midnight.
It is a crowded city.
That is enveloped in darkness with only stars to shine a dim path among the sleeping bodies.
In a swift movement she wraps her arms around her numb body,
As she paces back and forth the boulevard.
He swore that he would make it this time.
That he was willing to give it a try,
Just like she had a month ago.
Excuses.
However, were all he made up.
He ripped her letters, deleted her voicemails, and still left her hoping.
Yet, he still goes to see her pace back and forth that same boulevard every once and awhile disguised, as to not be seen.
At his arrival this time however, he is taken by surprise for now she is unrecognizable.
He used to like taunting her in the past about her magazine model kind of face,
But now he finds it dirty, like she’s been strolling the streets day and night.
Stopping at a corner she stands at approximately 5’4 with a ballerina body smoking away in high waisted shorts and a tank top, in the middle of winter.
She closes her eyes and succumbs to the ground crying away her disappointment.
He struggles to not get out and pull her in his arms,
But he knows that he can’t.
He never could.
Deal with her, that is.
Not when darkness swallowed her in and drove her out to the streets seeking for something.
Anything that made her feel.
He gave her false hopes to rid himself of her.
Not because he stopped loving her, but because she was killing herself willingly and wanting him to be okay with it.
She drove him away so many times, yet still hopes to see him every night.
Down the same boulevard where they first met without knowing that she already does.
