A mirror sighs, looks away
from memories, tired
of taking any of them,
content to fill, to soak
an image in light,
caress shapes, shades,
with a sparkle in its eyes.

A memory looks intently
at the mirror, pleads
for a nod, looks through
floating reflections,
to find depth beneath
shallow shades, shapes.

Eyes meet - a body smiles
to its lifeless pair on
the other side, sways
in self-admiration
at the falsity of movement
it sees, stays away from
what is, what doesn't exist.

What lives on
stifles a sigh,
to drown in euphoria,
ephemeral.
