I watched my hometown burn down
Things are not what they seem
The city was shot down
Over the land of dreams
New York’s just a graveyard now
We let the foundations rot and decay
The blood drenched smoke
Creates an urban haze
Abraham’s offspring have gone awry
Praying to the devil
To keep the sun from shining
The new dark ages are upon us
I don’t know where the bodies are buried
I only know what we are told
The end result being
We are no longer bold
We flew beyond the borders
Of chaos and disorder
To uncharted heights
Breathing rarified air
We were brought down by fear
I miss the observation deck
That panoramic view
Man’s achievement
Praise, Philippe Pettit
Most of us know
Yet many must learn
You have to soar
Before you crash and burn
