Organic chemistry, that oddball complex subject  that tears  the mind apart,
bane of every scientist with half a brilliant mind or solid heart,
teachers in this field make every effort but intricacy an never-ending bug,
botched  attempts at mastery left a chronic need for instant hug

At twenty two my third year paper had me in the grip of  feeling dumbstruck,
my mind turned blank, I  looked askance, for once I really had run out of luck.
Those brains I racked  with might and main in retrospect  it wasn’t that much fun.
But in the end it worked out well  percentage wise a glowing grade A  one
