The Swan
The lonely swan,
In search of a home,
Separated from the prying eyes,
It’s in search of a place to rest its head.
The immaculate white floating bird,
A lost soul in search of light,
The memories of yesterday still cloud its mind,
The passing days haven’t brought its rest.
Who will embrace this lonely swan?
Who will comfort it?
Who will listen with empathy?
Who will give it a shoulder to lean on?
The swan is that girl who is afraid of the night,
It’s that boy who sees his mother sit and cry in her room,
It’s that man who his father is ashamed of,
It’s that woman scarred by her past.
