Ghostlike glows
The dims of a relationship
A scene for mystery, for exploration
to the depths
Aromas of clementine and coconut, others of honey and lavender
Each scent a new world, the candle’s light bears more than just one—
the scents fuse, a beautiful error.
A vintage record player watches from the shelf
A writer uses the night for himself
The eucalyptus candle light dims, fading like his Indie music
Shadows grow, lacking in probity—
representing the deceitfulness of his identity
Introducing ghosts of the past, the finest of socialites;
their presents of scents are the sole presence they now have in his life.
His candles all dim, one by one by one.
And ultimately, he’s alone, left with none.
And as the light fades and fades away,
he tries to bring it back, he tells it “stay.”
But the candles have made up their minds in momentum.
Their light wants to leave, if he’d just let them.
He’s surrounded in darkness, his poetry and love now dimmed down.
But when the night is deep and the town is asleep
a poet always has his own attractive sweets.
