NOSTALGIA
However nostalgia may seem to last
Is it actual reality, or merely fantasy
Trying hard to remember as it was
The reasoning, is well, just because
It had seemed worthy of a memory
Just a movie frame as it flicked past
A recollection that may be distorted
Just a little off, but it can still survive
A ghost haunting a part of the brain
Often soothed, to minimize any pain
Yet it’s what imagination can contrive
And the worst examples are thwarted
A layer of honey spread over a cake
Bitter taste that is sweetened gently
Even if a happening wasn’t so good
A sympathetic mind does all it could
And it seems to work well, evidently
Perhaps a little fluff is all it may take
The events that struck a minor chord
Are easily transposed and re-phrased
Such that harmony embraces memory
Smoothing that abrasive grit of emery
As with such patches one is not fazed
Leaving a stone intact, with its sword
