Once more, forsaken Muse, thy Help afford!
Resume thy long neglected Lyre;
Once more the Cruelties of Death record,
And with just Grief, each Reader's Heart inspire,
'Tis Musidora claims thy Voice,
Dear Object of thy Tears;
'Ere while the Patron of thy Joys,
And Partner of thy Cares:
To Musidora, who could condescend
To be, as well as to be call'd a Friend;
And to thy worthless Lays, wou'd her Attention lend.
This grateful Tribute's Due!
At once thy Theam, and Inspiration too.
