27. To Nepos -

N EPOS , like me you dwell near Flora's shrine
In town; your country house is near to mine,
So well I know you have a daughter who
— All honour to your dame — is just like you;
And yet why save your ancient wines for her?
Hard cash to mellow casks will she prefer;
Reward her love and leave her stores of gold,
And if you will, new wine — it will be old
Before she needs it. May a childless man,
But not a father, love good Caecuban?
