39 The Soull under Fears of Hipocrisie -

The soull under fears of hipocrisie, sees itt need of examination, both from scripture, from the deceitfullnese of the hart, and from the fair shews of many that have been deceived. september 4 72

What need hast thou with speed
To search about with heed
and industry
Still warily
Least thou shouldst be out in thy way
Twill be to late, another day.

All that doth glister is
Not gold, but false varnish
thou'lt bear no weight
if counterfeight
The foolish may walk with the wise
Deceiving them by there disguise.

How many have we seen
Like fair ships, that have been
in beauty led
with sayls, out-spread
That by some leak have watter drunk
And sudenly they have been sunk.

Tis written in gods word
Many shall say Lord, Lord.
and Christ shall say
in that great day
Depart from me, I know you not
Eternall woe, shall be your lot.

Mans verdict, will not passe
Tis god only that has
a true insight
to Judg aright
Thosse that pase here, for a thousand
In gods acount, may ciphors stand.

But give not way, to fear
Let still this cordiall chear
The contracts firm
what can thee harm
Tis sign'd and sealed with Christs bloud
And by the law, of grace stands good.
