‘'Tis true good wife, we're poor,’ he would reply;
‘Together we in poverty were wed;
But let us never raise a murmuring cry
To Him who gives to us our daily bread;
Besides, somewhere I've either heard or read
‘Afflictions oft are blessings in disguise;’
I doubt not, then, but we shall still be fed;
Perhaps e'en at our door some blessing lies,
For One who cares for us far more than man is wise.’
