5. A Sound -

A SOUND

She called me by my Christian name,
Quite simply of her own accord,
And unexpectedly it came —
O the exceeding great reward!
Where are the years of longing, years
Of vigils and anxieties,
My perturbations now, my fears?
Gone with the wind across the trees.
Enchanted now, I walk in peace,
As one who walking on a sward
At twilight hears, or thinks he hears,
A fanfare out of Joyous Gard.
