53

My brethren have angered me sorely,
Tortured me early and late;
Some of them with their loving,
Some of them with their hate.

Into my cup dropped poison,
They poisoned the bread I ate;
Some of them with their loving,
Some of them with their hate.

But she who has tortured and crushed me,
And grieved me all others above—
She never gave me her hatred,
She never gave me her love.
