Contempt of the world and foly of worldlyngs

Alase poor, empty, sory world
where dos thy glory lye
Out of thee, we shall all be hurld
and ev'ry man must dye.

What will thy glit'ring glory then
Apear to us now here
A thing of nought, empty, & vain
thou shalt at last apear.

Att best thou art, a heap of rubish
fit fewell for the flame
In which thou speedyly shalt perish
and where is then, thy fame.

Oh poor, blind, mortalls what d'e meane
after this world to lag
When passed over is the scene
you'l see, t'was but a hag

The world will shortly turn you out
with all your pompe, & state
When in it, you have whirl'd about
you'l see, t'was but a bait

Her plesures ar but short, & swift
not worth the taking up
And when shee seems thee up to lift
ther's pousen in her cup.

Learn therfore, to be wise in time
before it be to late
And broken be your weak lifes line
when time's worn out of date

Come then vain man, take one prospect
of that glory beyound
Time, thou'lt not then, thy rest erect
in this earths durty, land.

Learn to cast of the world before
the time it casts of you
Your time, will shortly be no more
your days, att most are few

The closser you the world to hug
the more t'will prick, and smart
The harder att its breasts you tug
the worse t'will be to part.

This world when hug'd's a heap of thornes
that pricks us, to the hart
Could wee learn wisdome when it warns
we might avoid the smart
