55 Apon the Sight of a Hasty Travelor -
Apon the sight of a hasty travelor.
When somtimes I do stand, & veiw
earth's busy pasengers
I see some one, to bid adeiw
to's fellow travelors
Giving to them, a quik goe-by
as if he were in hast
Whilst others they behind do ly
he'l not let his time wast.
And this afresh brings to my mind
What a sweet thing it is
With speed, to leave our freinds behind
And hast unto our blise.
Then in my thoughts up I doe get
and fain, I would be gone
Wishing to break through ev'ry let
that I might, be att home.
Fain I would be upon the march
never once sitting down
Untill I come, within the reach
of the prepared Crown.
With David, I wish for the wing
of the poor, harmlese, dove
That I with hast, and speed, may spring
fo'th object, of my love
I cannot bear it thus to creep
whilst others walk apace
As if I were in slumber deep
or in a stupid. maize.
In my race to eternity
let me not walk but run
Nay rather, I would chouce to fly
Untill my day be done.
Though crowds doe stand thick in my way
I'de break through them to thee
And never stand, or once delay
till I thy glory see.
Let none out run me, in my race
appounted unto me
But let me walk, and run apace
untill I gett to thee.
Deer Lord, I need not fear excese
whilst I doe thee aspire
I will sue for a fivefold mese
that I may thee admire
I'me willing to run on the score
as deptor to free grace
Of holynese, I would have more
then others, in my race.
It is not to be seen of men
that I do this, desire
I care not one straw, for ther ken
to thy favour, I aspire,
The reason why, I can apeall.
is to be more like thee,
And that I may, with swift, full, sayl
hast with thee, for to bee
When somtimes I do stand, & veiw
