The 6. Kiss
There's a tune in my head to-night,
As I walk, as I talk,
And it swoons in a whirl of light
(While the day fades away)
And I hear my heart as it beats
A refrain, and again
I am splashed by the mud of the streets,
And again feel the rain.
I am hushed, and I listen, and move
Far apart, to her heart,
I am lost in the arms of her love;
Then I hear, in my ear,
Oh, what voices of men that seem
Scarce amiss to my bliss,
For I walk in a dream (a dream?
Is it this?) of her kiss!
As I walk, as I talk,
And it swoons in a whirl of light
(While the day fades away)
And I hear my heart as it beats
A refrain, and again
I am splashed by the mud of the streets,
And again feel the rain.
I am hushed, and I listen, and move
Far apart, to her heart,
I am lost in the arms of her love;
Then I hear, in my ear,
Oh, what voices of men that seem
Scarce amiss to my bliss,
For I walk in a dream (a dream?
Is it this?) of her kiss!
