June 26 73

To man, art first. thou didst dispence
A law, of pure, obedience

T'was personall, and perfect too
And universall, runing through

Each precept of, thy blessed will
Which thou requirst, we should fullfill

Yett leaving man to liberty
The devill, with malicious eye

Did by his subtle, wiles creep in
And our first parents, quikly bring

With all ther sad posterity
Into all kinnd, of misery

Yet love, & grace, made no delay
But lookt about, to find a way

Our liberty, for to restore
And fix it faster, then before

By putting itt, into the hand
Of Christ, we now more firmly stand

Hee came into the world, to doe
Thy will, and alsoe suffer to

Hee fully answer'd thy demands
And now by thee, acquited stands

T'was he the dept, did fully pay
And Justise, hath no more to say

But from a foe, is turn'd our friend
Our cause to plead, and to defend

And god is Just, in pardoning sin
To his, as well, as punishing.

And pouring wrath, down upon those
That this remi'ding law oppose

Doth Saten, fresh inditments bring
From new, out breakings of thy sin

This cant make void, or nulifie
That cov'nant, which to Christ doth tye

His bloud is of the same force still
As when att first, he did it spill

He upon whom, our sins ar lain
A sacrifice, doth still remain

How happy then ar thosse, who be
Secure, by cov'nant right to thee

Tis easy in notions to fly
But hard, oh hard, for to aply

From unbeleife, do thou repreive
And make me, savingly, believe
