Acrostic for Georgeana Cuthbert

Gentle and mild as is the summers Breeze
Exhaling sweets from beds of fragrant roses
Or when in murmurs thro the myrtle trees
Refreshing Zephyrs — every sense compasses
Graceful and fair the lovely nymph is form'd
Encompassd always by the sportive loves
And by the hand of innocence adorn'd
No rival meets thro all the Cyprian groves
And in no breast an enemy she proves —
Cupid alone that Sly designing boy
Urchin decietful can the fair anoy
The hour is come he — to fair venus cries
Hebe her self must surely sacrifice
Before the victor of the human heart
Even now I feel the triumph and the smart
Reverbrate on my self my keenest dart
The poignant anguish baffling all my art
