After Reading "The New Day"
How subtly bound these little brilliants are!
Towards one centre seems their radiance thrown;
Around the white neck of some queen unknown,
We see them flashing, while we stand afar.
The world must not come near enough to see
The links that keep them in their royal place;
That would betray the mystic wearer's face: —
Ah! she can feel the clasp of unity!
