Attention give while I relate

Attention give while I relate,
Though horrible is the shame;
I'll tell you of a doomed man,
Bush they call his name.

Court has sentenced him to death,
The time is drawing nigh;
For the murder of his own dear wife,
On the gallows he must die.

First he tried to drown her,
And that did not succeed;
But with his fatal pistol,
He carried out the deed.

The babe was in the mother's arms,
Up to them he did creep.
The demon pulled the trigger,
And killed her while asleep.

Soon they heard the loud report,
The ball crushed through her head.
The infant drank it's mothers blood,
While the woman she lay dead.

They said that he was jealous,
When he did this cruel crime;
He shall stand before his Maker
And answer another time.

It's true indeed we all agree,
Judge Lily dealt him fair.
Our Saviour's court is greater;
Our Judge He will be there.

The murderer was but a youth,
Although he was quite strong.
It takes a heart as hard as stone
To commit such a wrong.

It's true we are all humans.
God's love should fill our heart;
Our wives should be the greatest friend
From whom man has to part.

" How hard it is to give her up, "
The husband he should say,
" Oh, what a consolation
To meet on the Judgment Day. "
